Ever been on the monorail? Daniel and I went on a "Space Walk" simulator at the Pacific Science Center, which was pretty lame. Soon after, we went on the monorail and decided to make our own video. It turned out much better than the lame computer generated one we paid $4 each to ride. It's about 3 minutes, so sit back and enjoy the ride. Maybe I can sell it to the PSC for big bucks. Ya think?

As much as I LOVE music, it annoys the hell out of me when I open a web page or blog (yes, even my own) and have music blaring in my face. Since I am a multi-tasker, I usually have several windows open at a time and have a horrible mix of country, rock, christian, pop, beeps from some stupid game I am playing etc, etc. Trust me people! They do not mix well!!!! Therefore...................I have removed the music player from my blog as not to annoy myself (or any one else for that matter).

There...I've vented and feel better. Now I can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet!

Vacation is almost over. Damn! Daniel and I just spent over a week along the California coast and now I have over 500 fabulous new photos to play with. I'm so excited. Last month, I started an on-line photo editing class at JessicaSprague.com. Now is the time to finish the class. I have a few projects done with some older photos, which I will post at a later date, but I am so thrilled with the new projects I have to post them first. Todays lesson was TTV - "Through the Viewfinder". I won't bore you with any details. I'll just post the results.

The Great Outdoors

Yesterday, my friend Daniel took Winston and his sister and I up in the mountains and to the hot pools near Warm Lake. What a beautiful adventure. Winston works with us at WinCo. He is 21 years of age and is the sole provider for his family which includes his father, sister and brother. What a kid. He and his family is from Berma and are now living here in Idaho. Daniel has taken him under his wing and is teaching him how to drive and wants to show him around Idaho so when he gets a car, he can take his family and show them what a great state we live in. Back to the adventure.... It's not very often that all of us have the same night off of work. Well this week we did and it happens to be the worst day of the week because of the weather. 60% chance of snow in the mountains. Did that stop us? NO! A last minute decision sent us on our adventure. Out of the city and up the mountain into the unknown....for all of us but Daniel. The weather was beautiful when we left Boise, but we hit a little snow right after we drove through Horseshoe bend. Still the adventure continued. Through the pass, with a little scare around the corner. The car in front of us was driving too fast for the conditions and spun out and hit the cement barrier along the road. Luckily, I was far enough behind him to stop safely. Daniel got out to see if the people in the other car were ok. They were, but seem annoyed that we asked. See if we help anyone again! LOL! The closer we got to Cascade, the more snow we had, but still...on with the adventure. We made a pit stop in Cascade and changed drivers. Daniel knew the way, so he drove the rest of the trip. Mountain....here we come. The roads were snowy, but driveable. We kept a safe 20MPH speed (on my orders, because it was my car!). Higher and higher we climbed up the road. A van came up behind us so Daniel pulled over to let them pass. Minor mistake. As we pulled back into our lane, we hit black ice. Not good on an uphill slope. We slowly started to spin, doing a 180 right into the snow bank. OOPS! Then we were stuck. I took over the wheel. Daniel and Winston got out and pushed. Freedom...for a minute or two. I drove a little ways, then more black ice. Same scenario. Stuck again. Do we continue? The car was turned around at that point so we back down the same way we went up. Slowly! Was the adventure really over? We drove a couple of miles, discussed it and unamiously decided to turn around a give it another go. We were too close to give up. This time we made it with no problems. Woo hoo!!! We were so glad turned back around. You can see the pools from the road, but to get to the them you have to hike a little ways down the hill. I had my camera, but the adventure down the trail did not provide a good opportunity to take pictures. Snow, ice, rock, plus steep hill equals too slippery for Sandee. Every one else went down with no problem, but me being the scardy cat, sat on my ass and slid down. It was just like being on a slide at the water park. A tiny bit colder though. Then came the hot pools. How awesome to be sitting and relaxing in a natural hot springs with the snow falling from the sky. Nature in it's glory. And to be sharing it with your best friends. I did manage to get a couple of photos after our dip in the pool. Yes it was as cold as it looks, but so worth the trip. We plan to go again soon, but camp for a few nights. Hopefully next time it will be a little warmer and less snow. Click on the thumbnail for larger pictures.

I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday...my foot is finally healed, yeah!!! Anyway, I was in the area, so I decided to go on a nature walk. Kathryn Albertson Park has been in Boise since 1989 and I have never been there before. I had my camera with me so I took some shots of the natural habitat and wild animals. Even though it's winter and all the plants and trees were "sleeping", it was still beautiful. The shots of the geese were taken across the street from K.A. Park at Ann Morrison Park. I bet there were over 1000 geese there that day.

Well....
After years of procrastination, I have a new job. I still work for the same company, same shift, same type of work, just a different department. I decided to switch back over to our grocery department, so now I am working with the big boys throwing freight instead of the little boys. NO MORE BABYSITTING!!!!! OOH-Yeah! I have to work my ass off (and hopefully more of my gut), but what the hell. NO MORE BABYSITTING!!!!! Did I mention NO MORE BABYSITTING!!!!! ??????

Tonight was our annual family Christmas gathering. It was fun, as usual, but we were missing one key person. My mother, Dorothy. She lives several hundred miles north of us and has been unable to make it home for the holidays for the last couple of years. I slaved all day Wednesday to make pies for Thanksgiving dinner. Here's part of what I went through.

**start with the pastry**form into nice round ball**make sure it fits**

**fold in half*****fold in half again*****place in pie plate**

**unfold*****tuck under edges*****flute the edges**

**prick with fork***close up shot***HOT 450 degree oven**

**bake for 10-12 minutes*** The end result***

I was too lazy to take pictures of the filling process so you just get to enjoy the end result. Yum! I actually had time to make the pastry from scratch this year. Had a little left over so I rolled it out, sprinkled it with sugar and cinnamon and baked. Forgot how flaky and yummy my recipe is.

It's been a little over a week since I broke my foot and I fear it's not getting any better. And... I'm going stir-crazy. The doctor said it's ok to walk, but I think I over did it yesterday. The laundry needed done and the dishes needed done and by the time the day was done, so was I. The lawn needs mowed also, but there's no way in Hell I'm taking that on. It can wait until spring :) So what did I do today? Absolutley nothing! Nothing physical, anyway. My friend needs to return home and burn me some more movies since I am "locked up" for 2 more weeks. I have been watching movies and reading everyone's blogs. Some if you have been "scrapbooking" so I decided to be creative again today and do some scrapbooking of my own. The digital kind that is. Since I'm temporarily crippled and basically can do nothing except sit or lay with my foot elevated, I'm expanding my knowledge via the internet. Today I learned how to use an image to divide my blog posts instead of that tiny dotted line. Notice the "Happy Halloween" ribbon? Cool, huh!!!

Broken Bones

Anyone who has never broken a bone, feel blessed. I should have read my last post about sitting on my ass all weekend, but no..... I had to do the dishes, do laundry, rearrange the furniture, shampoo the carpets, etc, etc. Then while putting everything back after the carpet dried, I had to go and trip on some shelving and break my foot. I have what they call a Jones fracture in the 5th metatarsal of my left foot. F*CK it hurts!!! It's one of the most difficult fractures to heal. I just got home from the ER(only took 1 1/2 hours, not bad for the ER) and filling my narcotics. Took two and hopefully they put me to sleep real soon. I've had all the excitement I can stand for the evening. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to work on Tuesday, as planned. I have been ordered to sit or lay until I see the orthopedic doc whenever I can get in. Absolutely no weight bearing activities until further notice. Breaks my heart, no my foot :)

p.s. Crutches are one of the greatest inventions ever!

Little bastards that they are!!!
Over the past few days, everytime I went outside to feed the cats, I'd find a pair of my socks laying in the yard. Since I usually leave the screen door open so they can come and go as they please, as well as let a little fresh air in, I thought nothing of it. That is until today. It's been cooler at night, so I've been closing the door when I leave for work. When I arrived home from work this morning, there were 16 pairs of socks spread throughout the yard. I had to laugh. After a little investigative work, I determined they(I'm blaming them all because I don't know the actual culprit)have been climbing the fence, jumping on my patio cover, up through the window and into my spare bedroom where I keep most of my clothes. I have a large tub full(well...it's empty now!) of socks and undies. They have no choice but to go back out the window because I keep the bedroom door closed. Obviously the socks have been going with them. They even left one on the roof and it's staying there because I am NOT climbing out the window. Needless to say, the window is closed now, also. Gotta love "em!

On Friday, September 5, 2008, my only nephew Eric married Jennifer. The bride was beautiful, the groom handsome. The ceremony was perfect, the weather was perfect. The universe was in perfect harmony. We had a busy weekend with family and friends in town, so the pictures are a little delayed.

Here's another entry for Roger's contest over at Creative Photography. I was having problems with his site, but all bugs are fixed now and I now can enjoy everybody's photos. This picture was taken by a good friend of mine. It was taken in the Boise National Forest near Silver Creek Plunge in Garden Valley, Idaho. I love the contrasts of the white rapids and the dark rocks. No editing here. All Mother Nature.

A Beautiful Day

Well...I'm finally back home from the boring town of Moscow, Idaho. I had a great week working and visiting with Mom. Did we really visit or just compute? I don't know, but it was nice getting to stay with her for a week. The drive home was routine. Nothing too exciting to photograph, but I did happen to stop in McCall to use the ladies room. I found a nice little stop next to the lake, so I got some awesome shots of Payette Lake. Check out the clouds above the lake. They were equally awesome.

I don't like my hair. Who ever said natural curly hair is a blessing LIED!
I love photography as long as I'm behind the camera and not in front of it. My camera usually goes everywhere with me.
I buy EVERYTHING unscented, unless it's Opium or Emeraude .
Cats rule! Dogs drool!
I don't like most ice cream (yes, believe it), but I do like sorbets and ices.
Every car I've owned has been red or has had red trim.
Family is very important to me. I love them all.
I really miss my Dad!!
I am very tender-hearted when it comes to family, friends and pets.
I'm a pessimistic optimist.
I believe I have above average intelligence.

Journey

I am readying myself to embark on a journey up to the beautiful Palouse. My work takes me there to be their slave, but I look at it as an all expenses paid vacation to visit my Mother. Cristie, Jessica, Emily, Sarabeth, and I went to Kuna Caves yesterday. It was my first trip there in the 31 years I've lived in the Treasure Valley. Let me say, it was not that impressive, but it was fun. My body sure aches from the bending and crawling and bruises to my legs and top of my head. If you ever go, take a flashlight, extra batteries, and definitely knee pads. If we go again, the knee pads are first on my list! LOL! Oh, if you wear pants that are too big for you, wear a belt! Here are the pictures.

It's been so long since we've had rain here I forgot what it looked like. Today we had a heck of a storm move through. Although it only lasted about 15 minutes, it was quite awesome. I LOVE the rain! Obviously I need to clean out the rain gutters cuz I had quite the waterfall, LOL! I tried to get some shots of the lightning, but it didn't cooperate, darn it!

Here's yet another entry for Roger's contest over at Creative Photography.

After watering the lawn this morning, I decided to play with the camera a little. I noticed the water droplets on the Trumpeters vine and the reflection of the neighbor's tree in the droplets. What a cool shot! I edited it with Photoshop using the omni effect in the filter options. It highlighted the droplet just enough to enhance the image and make it look like it's glowing from within. Here's my six:
1) Under or Over? My toilet paper has to go on the TP holder to it rolls over the top. If I find yours going under, I will probably change it.
2) My windshield has to be clean and streak free. I will wash my windows while driving down the road if I have to. Right Mom? LOL!
3) The TV is almost always on. Even if I'm on the computer, piano, reading (like I ever read) and even when I go to bed. I like the background noise. If it's too quiet, it annoys me. Yes, it's on now.
4) When I eat dinner, if I have meat, taters, and a veggie, I will always eat the veggies first, then the taters, and the meat last. Don't ask me why. Just do.

How's 4? Can't think of more now. It's bedtime and I'm tired!

While cooking Chicken Fajitas for dinner the other morning(I work the graveyard shift), I was noticing how beautiful the colors blended together. I usually take pictures of nature outside, but thought, what the heck. Nature created this, too. So, I've decided to intertwine my creative talents in the kitchen and behind the lens. No photoshop here, just Mother Nature and myself in harmony. BTW, the fajitas were awesome!!! I made enough to feed me for 3 days. They were equally good, each and every day. YUM!
